About us
Formerly known as a tavern near the Château-Frontenac by the name "Taverne Chien D'or," it became an art gallery around 1974.
Although the art gallery changed owner over the years, it kept its function and the "Chien D'or" name. The name comes from a Quebec legend and is part of Quebec City history.
In 2016, Johanne Thomassin, artist, took over the business to make it her art studio and art gallery.
Since 2020, this studio and exhibition space is used by the owner Johanne Thomassin and her niece Joanie Thomassin. It also offers a selection of artwork by another member of the family, Yvon Thomassin, as well as gift ideas.
In May 2021, La Galerie Le Chien D'or opened a second art gallery in Quebec City on the Sault-au-Matelot street and moved completely there in October.
You can now discover the artwork in a friendly atmosphere on the most artistic street of Quebec!
